Gherardo Ulivi was born in Florence, where he grew up and professionally trained attending Fashion Styling and Creative direction at Istituto Marangoni. Meanwhile He got in touch with the Art world, completing a masterclass of History of Art at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice, and developed his professional skills through an intensive course of photography and a seminar of creative writing at Fenysia - Scuola di Linguaggi della Cultura. He then began the Visual Arts course at the IUAV University of Venice, which he completed in 2024.
His work investigates the human being, from a physical and mental point of view, these concepts often intermingle ideas ranging from anatomy to psychology, drawing on a various cultural background: Ancient Greek, subcultures, Anti-fashion and peculiar historical objects. Contrasts are the base of his language, translated in shapes and colors, in order to achieve an idea of unlimited freedom with a touch of irony. He expresses himself mainly through photography, video and writing.
He lives and works between Florence and Venice.
